BackupPC

All,

I am looking for a backup solution which permits
- backing up from several machines (Linux and Windows)
- to a central server's disk
- possibility to burn the backup data onto a DVD
- find duplicates and saves space by just duplicating meta data
- compression
- limited bandwidth woul d be fine, but is not a must

Restore needs not restore a fully functional system, it's rather for personal documents and config files.

From my googling it appears that BackupPC hosted at Sourceforge comes closest.

-1- does anyone have experience with BackupPC?
-2- can anybody think of maybe a better solution given the above requirements?

Regards,
-pu

I'm sure that you would get better response if you posted in the Linux - Software forum instead...

But I'm posting here to thank you for showing me this interesting app called BackupPC... I wouldn't have known about it if you didn't mention it.

Thanks for sharing!
