[SOLVED] Audio doesn't work in runlevel 4, but does in runlevel 3 (with startx)

After I got Slackware installed on my system KDE says it can't open the audio mixer and reverts back to default (which is nothing)

After troubleshooting I found that when I run in runlevel 3 and start KDE with startx, the audio work. KDE can see the audio mixer

But when I run in runlevel 4 and log in with KDM, KDE cannot see the audio mixer.

I need some help on where to go from here to pin point the issue.
