armedslack-13.37 - can't run any KDE apps?

My ARM system (Seagate GoFlex Net) is running great, with one exception - I can't run any KDE applications. I'm using VNC and this happens whichever window manager I run. When I try to run KDE itself, I get all but 1 icon on the splash screen to appear, before the screen goes completely black. Please see attached screenshot for the specific error.

Seems like to be this error: http://www.mail-archive.com/armedsla.../msg00381.html - But I can't find a solution anywhere.

I could be pretty wrong here, but it looks as if a package is missing or different versions of packages are incompatible, something KDE related or dbus is not functioning properly. Can you paste the output of:

Code:
ls /usr/share/dbus-1/services/
I think the smartest solution will be to rebuild KDE from the slackware-current source tree (only adapted for ARM).

Check the armedslack changelog, it should help. In this error it's said that older versions work, check what has exactly changed.

Thanks for the reply. Here you go - anything abnormal?

Code:
root@goflex:~# ls /usr/share/dbus-1/services/
blueman-applet.service org.freedesktop.xesam.searcher.service org.kde.krunner.service org.xfce.FileManager.service org.xfce.calendar.service
obex-data-server.service org.kde.fontinst.service org.kde.kuiserver.service org.xfce.RunDialog.service org.xfce.orage.service
org.freedesktop.Akonadi.Control.service org.kde.kget.service org.kde.lancelot.service org.xfce.Thunar.service vandenoever.strigi.service
org.freedesktop.Notifications.service org.kde.knotify.service org.xchat.service.service org.xfce.Xfconf.service
Rebuilding KDE could take weeks on that system . Anyway, armedslack-current is pretty up-to-date with slackware-current. Going by the changelog, there doesn't seem to have been much change KDE-wise, since the 13.37 release. So I doubt upgrading to current will help.

If it does turn out to be the same error I linked originally, how come KDE was not just reverted to an earlier version by the ARM maintainers? Is there something more to it.. surely there must be?

Just a thought, but could it be where the libraries are pointing to or looking for. I do not have my sheevaplug with me but you may just need to symlink what it is looking for to where it actually is.

Slackware ARM 13.37 was released with KDE marked as known broken (as it says in the changelog).
Hopefully when the new version of KDE appears for -current, KDE will work again -- but I won't build it for 13.37 as there's no real demand for it.
