argh man pages broken

Suddenly i've found i can't look at any man pages and I receive this error:

Code:
# man iptables
Formatting page, please wait...
Error executing formatting or display command.
System command /bin/bzip2 -c -d /usr/man/cat8/iptables.8.bz2 | /usr/bin/less -is exited with status 256.
bah what could this be? I've been recently doing a lot of stuff setting up an ids using acid, mysql and snort, but I don't think any packages like this would break anything..

You may can try updateing the scrollkeeper database

As su issue the command at the prompt

# scrollkeeper-update

sometimes this takes a while sometimes not. It will also return errors about non validated docs, omfs, dtds and what nots...

Scrollkeeper is gnome-specific, how does it
affect man-pages?

Cheers,
Tink

Is the iptables man-page the only that's broken?

No they're all broken. I think less is broken because it is used to display man pages right? And I can't seem to get it to work when I pipe a regular file to it, nothing happens, there isn't even any output. I'll try and reinstall that but if it doesn't work....

Hmm after switching my kernel to 2.6.8.1-ck5 from 2.6.9-rc1-mm1 everything is fixed. The man pages work, and now glxgears doesn't segfault anymore. I think the only thing I changed in the config was disabling hpet timer support.
