Currently we have this line in /etc/inittab:
Code:
c1:12345:respawn:/sbin/agetty --noclear 38400 tty1 linux
I consider replacing it in Slint by:
Code:
c1:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty --noclear 38400 tty1 linux
This is to avoid that, when speech is enabled, the user hear the login message
and the display manager greeting's message at the same time, which is rather confusing. I inserted a "sleep <a few seconds>" before starting the display manager in rc.4.local, but that's still far from perfect.
The only inconveniences that I see with this modification is that tty1 becomes unavailable for input (but we could add a login console on another tty), thus if one needs to kill X if the graphical environment is frozen, it can't be done anymore pressing Ctrl+C in tty1 (but still a kill command can be typed from another tty, assuming that the keyboard still works).
Other than that, would this modification have any inconvenience?
Comments appreciated.
