apm false info?

Hi!

I am runnig Slack10.0 and have apm started automatically... it is running... no problems with that...

But it lies!

If I type (as root) 'apm' it tells me I would have pluged in the power-chord and no battery woulde be used... well, thats not true... it's runnign from battery...

Trying to start apmd only tells me that apmd is alredy running...

Hope this was enough information... Any suggestions?

Greetings, Sascha

Did you try to compile a kernel with ACPI support instead of apm as your machine is recent ?

Hi!

Yes... a week or two ago, I compiled a new kernel 2.6.8.1 with acpi support.. and it worked, no problem.

But my question is about apm on the standart kernel from Slack 10.0 (2.4.26 I think)... I just wonder how toget apm to do it's work correctly ... or doesn't it fail in nearly every case? :-)

Greetings, Sascha

Hi!

Good question!

I am not really sure... how could I check that out? Have been in the BIOS a minute ago and didn't find anything named *apm* or *acpi* in Powermangement-Section I could only choose a Suspendmode (Disbled or S3/something) nothing more about power and so on... also not in other sections

I am running Slack 10 on a Fujitsu Amile A ... don't know if this helps...

Thanks, Sascha

Here is a link from another amilo user : http://www.italios.it/amilo/

It is not the same model, but take a look at his kernel config link
