there are (I think, I'm not in PV's head) few things to clear for a 15.0 Slackware release:
- stabilize kde 5.23.x with remaining bugs which will take some weeks or more.
- have an LTS kernel, 5.15.x may be this one (there is one LTS kernel every 5 or 6 stable release, the last one was 5.10), but it needs to stabilize with some 5.15.8 or more.
- make a decision for the inclusion of python-3.10 or 3.9.
- there won't be a mass rebuilt, because glibc-2.34 won't be included.
- have an LTS kernel, 5.15.x may be this one (there is one LTS kernel every 5 or 6 stable release, the last one was 5.10), but it need to stabilize with some 5.15.8 or more.
The rule in the last few releases has been to declare the last stable release of the year as LTS. In this case it will probably be 5.15.
Why do you care, xiongnu? 15.0-RC1 runs great! You aren't forced to continualy upgrade. Snapshot systems are valid and really, in my experience, Current/15.0-RC1 runs vastly better than the first few official releases when KDE was initially upgraded from v3 to v4. I have every reason from experience to believe 15.0 is headed to Magnus Opus status. Yes it is still being polished but I have to wear sunglasses now as it is!
Sometimes I think it hasn't been that long since 14.2 has been released, but then I remember that since then I've had the following happen:
Bought a house
Met my girlfriend
Got a new job
Married said girlfriend
Got another new job
Had a child (with another on the way)
