another wireless newb

Ok i have slack 10.2 installed on an old toshiba laptop that is a pentium not sure of much else on the system except i put a larger hd in it. pcmia works and i have a lucent wireless card that is branded by compaq. i cant get it to ping and i cant get it to let me manually change the ip...i want to say that i was able to ping in the past but i cannot remember what i did...this was a project that kind of got set aside for a while. ny network consists of a dlink wireless router that has to stay encrytped...i triple checked that the encrytion key was correct and that i have the right essid.

here are some outputs

after you setup your card by using iwconfig, you might need to run dhcpcd to get a new IP
