I am sure there are other threads about how great Slackware is but man I can't even begin to start with how much Slackware has taught me about linux. And not just that but It always seems like there are more people viewing Slackware than any other distro. I have decided that I will purchase a Copy just as a way to show my support to Slackware.
Great decision. My view is that it's cool to test out as many distros as you want, but once you settle on the one (or more) distros that you favor above all others, you should buy the subsequent releases. It's good karma plus it helps the distro team continue to do the work they do.
I love Slackware. I use it at home and at work. We saved a bunch of money by dropping Microsoft on 4 of our machines, along with Zone Alarm and McAffee. I have learned so much over the last two years with Slackware. I finally bought a subscription to give back.
I haven't 'purchased' Slackware sine 3.6....Always found it was easier to d/l the first 2 discs. But welcome to the fold. As I've said before, hold on tight, 'cuz you're going for a ride. Nice to welcome a newcomer. Also, Slackware is THE oldest GNU/linux distro out there friend. Tell your poor windows friends.
That is definetly what I will be telling my friends. I love the fact that I can browse around and not have one pop up. However I am still having trouble gettting my boss interested in using Linux. The only linux machines we have on property is our Promo Kiosks. (Used for Rewards card members to track how much play they have.) Any suggestions will be Helpful in getting Linux into the workplace.
Has anyone purchase the essentials pack ? I was thinking about that because it comes with a slackware book.
