hi there!
i read through the forum and installed alsa correctly for
my on board sound, compiling it with
./configure --with-cards=via82xx --with-kernel=/usr
make
make install
and it reported me that it was all fine n nice, and that it is
muted by default
but when i tried to run KMIX it starts but xmix is loaded somehow
completely crooked, cant see nothing just some grey window
and i am pretty sad bout this...
someone got another ap to crank up the volume or some idea
what i might have done wrong?
cya
Phat
ps. Mobo is a Gigabyte GA-7VR with the above listed onboard sound...
Kmix starts with a grey window as the default until you select a hardware mixer for it to work with ... oyu go the menu and select something like add device (check all the menu items and you'll find it) then there's drop down list and you select your mixer. If there's no mixer there then there's something wrong with your setup. Once a mixer is selected the grey window should change to a number of sliders representing the different inputs and outputs of your sound system. It seems the sliders need to be quite high to get normal volume levels.
