Ad-hoc network with ipw2100 and slackware 12.2

Hi everybody!

Someone could configure the ipw2100 in ad-hoc mode with WEP? i can't even get the interface up and working (tx-power is off and the ESSID is always "any").
i've tried configuring with iwconfig and the KDE network configurator. There is some previous step to get the wireless card up and running?

What does the output of 'ifconfig -a' show?
How do you configure the network?
