Accidently deleted partition

Hi,

I was installing Slackware 13.37 on my system that has separate '/home' (XFS filesystem, 15GB) partition. I wanted to leave that intact and was going to make a separate '/'. But I selected and formatted the '/home' with EXT4 to become '/' when asked by the installer. I'm so pissed at myself.

I used Fedora 15 live cd and I ran Photorec on lost partition, it recovered lot of files but not what I was looking for. I tried to run Testdisk too, but it was saying unable to create a backup file or something.

Also Photorec does recover from EXT4. So should I be looking for a utility thar recovers from a lost XFS partition?

Photorec does a deep scan, it doesn't care for filesystems. So if it doesn't find the data you are looking for then most likely that data is overwritten and you have no chance to get it back.
