2.6.* kernel, change in way devices work?
Hello,
I have just started using linux-Slackware in fact-again for the first time since experimenting with Redhat 6. Ive been doing a bit of searching on Google and honestly I dont know how to wade through so much filler to boil down to what Im looking for. Haha!
Seems like alot has been going on, which I think is great. And the usablitly has changed quite a bit from what I have tried so far. I tried Mandrake for about a week and was recommended Slackware by a family member who I guess is going to college for computer programming and here I am now. Thats my story so far in a nutshell.
I am running the stock bare.i kernel and have updated with all of the patches released so far for stable.
I'm kind of guessing here, but it looks to me like a 2.6 kernel would help my systems performance a bit? I have a good walkthrough that I have been reviewing and I am worrying about only one thing.
I have a digital camera that I have setup to mount as a scsi drive through my usb port. A simple /dev/sda(1) to mount through /mnt/cam.
Is anything different in 2.6 with devices, or will I be able to set it up that way again?
I have a nforce2 board, do the nforce2 drivers from nvidia play into that at all?
Thanks for any help or a turn to the right direction..
