Well, using an updated alsa makes it harder to help you, but if it doesn't work 'out of the box' with an updated alsa it could mean that alsa is passing the wrong options to the snd-hda-intel module based on what it *thinks* the card is supposed to use. I found this page with possible options to the snd-hda-intel module (edit /etc/modprobe.d/sound in Slackware). Other possible options to pass to the snd-hda-intel module are listed in /usr/src/linux/Documentation/sound/alsa/ALSA-Configuration.txt, with model options in /usr/src/linux/Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio-Models.txt.

I have the same notebook, and the sound also doesn't work for me.
I'm using slackware 13 too

I've done exactly the same thing that did in your last post, but no success.

have you done something more?

thank you
