I have just downloaded Knoppix 3.6 from linuxiso.com. I burned it to a CD and poped it into the CD-Drive (Duh...). I restarted my computer, entered the bios and set it up so the CD-Drive stats first (Duh...). Then I restarted once more. When the Knoppix main menu poped up I hit enter (which I think I amd suppost to do to start it) and is started loading. Then a back screen starts up and I waited for 15 minutes and it still would not start up.
I came across this yesterday with 3.7. There should be an option to use a 2.6 kernel (F3 ?) at the boot prompt and I think the input at the boot prompt is linux26. Check the options at the boot prompt.
As stated in previous post, when you get the boot: prompt enter F2 or F3 (top row of keys) and it will give the boot option to enter at the prompt. If it says linux24 then it's using the 2.4 kenrnel. I have been entering linux26 at the prompt and it uses the 2.6 kernel.
I am not in Knoppix right now but there is a pppoe config tool I think in Knoppix -> select K (bottom left) go up to Knoppix and I think its in Internet. just go through those options it's quite clear.
As far screen resolution goes that may be in System off K (normally in Control Center with KDE) .
Just explore the options as you cannot break anything.
