I have my Xorg.conf file set up to load my nvidia drivers, but at boot time my entry to use the driver "nvidia" is replaced with the generic "nv". Does any one know what is overwriting this file???
do youy have a ~/xorg.conf file or is it loaded from /etc/X11/xorg.conf ?
If you don't have a ~/xorg.conf you may want to try that one, IIRC this one loads first and if not present then the /etc/xorg.conf is loaded. but that may only apply to runlevels other than 5 so it may not be all that helpfull, but it might help you find out where your problem lies...
