How to view the location of the installed software?


Hi.
I have installed a software of rpm type,but after installed,I didn't know the software's directories.how to find out it?

please give me some advice.

Type at a shell prompt:

whereis programname

for example to see where is apache you'd do

whereis apache

the question is that I knew the rpm package name of the soteware but did't know the programe name.How should I do?

its in the rpm package name

tell m,e the package name

or you can directly edit rpm
go to mc
find rpm +enter to get into
select CONTENTS.cpio + enter
to see all the files which will be unpacked,
that should clear things up for ya

if you have kde open kpackage(package manager from system menu) and search for your package name. it will show the programs provided by the package along with the result
