i have recently downloaded solaris and i am trying it out right now and it looks cool (but the only draw back would be skype compatibility) everything else (including scribus, openoffice, pidgin, and thunderbird) work just need skype to work
is this like the linux kernel where almost every device you throw at it is compatible
yeah but i want the client to be installed onto the computer and ran on the computer (without using the browser since i have been know to close the browser as a result of forgetting what i was doing with it. is there a way to port it though (i mean the linux version is unix-based like solaris right? what is the difference between solaris and linux unix wise)
and also imo doesn't make skype to skype calls it just instant messages through skype protocol

You should fix that first ...

Sure, the main and only issue is skype is closed source and uses a proprietary undisclosed protocol. If you want it to be ported, the only way is to ask Skype's developers to do it.

That depends on how close you look.

This is incorrect, I'm doing audio skype to skype calls under Solaris with imo.
