I hadn't heard of this. Just stopped by the Slackware site to have a look at the new logo. IMHO it's horrible. It makes the site look like it was vandalized or something. The idea of being able to read it upside down is interesting, but, I've seen some pretty bad distro logos in my time, and this one is at the top of the list - at least for me.

Wow, another thread about the logo

As posted in the other thread, doesn't really strike me as positive nor negative. I do like the old one better, but I have no issues with the new one. So I voted yes.

When you see an enlarged picture of the logo, it is actually quite nice. Perhaps Pat should try a full banner across the top of the page. <Wonder how many threads that would create>

I voted no, but I don't hate it, I just don't think it reflects what I personally think of Slackware. I really hope Pat won't lose money if people don't like it and don't buy goodies. I like the way Arch Linux had a logo contest. Most people seem pleased. Here are their submission guidelines if you care to check them out.
Hope something good comes out of it somehow

I just noticed that your previous poll was closed by XavierP on the basis that there is already a place to share your opinions about this. He asked you to post in that thread instead, so I don't understand why you would then go and do precisely what he asked you not to do. Am I missing something here?

I just voted no because it seems to be:
a. trying too hard to be 'cool'

and

b. designed by a 3rd grader. I get it, I do it's nifty.... but not really that appealing.

I voted no,but hate is too strong a word to use. It just doesn't fit ERAWKCALS's image. Can somebody make a font to match that logo?

A font would not be much use unless you only wanted to type "slackware". In other combinations you wouldn't have any rotational symmetry. I expect it's all custom vector work.

Don't like it. Never will.

If you want to make a 'c' and a 'k' look like a 'w' when upside down, then you have to accept that they're going to look like a 'm' when they're the right way up. To me the new design reads 'Slamwars'. Also, the 'e' to an 'S' is a little bit too far of a stretch for my mind. As I said before, its a good attempt, but it's a good attempt at something that's just not possible to do 'right'.

There's also the point that someone else made in one of the other threads that this logo isn't friendly to folk with visual impairments.

Please Note: I'm not "complaining", "crying", "whinnging" or "whining", just giving my feedback on the new logo and stating that I strongly believe that Pat has made a mistake adopting this new design as the official logo.

I prefer the simple elegant styling of the old one. However, my personal preferences for the official slackware logo still remains the Slackware 'S' on the blue roundel. If you want to bring it up to date, to make the kids happy, give the circle that trendy glassy 'aqua' look that's all the rage at the moment.

Right, that's me done. said all I'm going to on this now.

Gaz.

Which part of "there is an existing live thread covering this subject here http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...w-logo-663233/ " don't you get? We do not need multiple threads on the same subject in the same forum. If you wish to share your opinion, do so in the original thread and keep the discussion in one place.
