algorithm for fingerprint matching


hai...
Does anybody know the algorithm and source code for fingerprint matching? As I know, there have minutia-based matching and pattern-based matching. Which one is better? If for pattern-based matching, how to program it?

Yes...I need some refereces about the fingerprint matching for me to refer..Do u have any samples or ideas for me? I'm really need your helps!
