I have a Lexmark Printer and need to install it. I called Lexmark and they said they do not support Linux. I have been told to use the Z55 printer driver for my X5150 printer. How do I install it?
Ted
Lucky for you that printer is "Mostly supported" My Lexmark X1150 is a paperweight in linux.... still shopping around for a good cheap all in one that will work with ubuntu and fedora
Unfortunately Lexmark, to my knowledge, does not support Linux. I have given up on Lexmark, and bought another printer. HP works like a charm.
linuxprinting is an excellent site for printers on Linux.

Yes they do. I have a Lexmark E232 that came with a CD with Linux drivers on it. I can print from most applications under Fedora, and for those that can't talk to the Lexmark printer driver, I installed a "HP LaserJet 4" driver to handle the PostScript/PCL language conversion.
This may or may not help the original poster, as Lexmark's driver support exists - it's just woeful.
I too have a Lexmark 5150 so here's what I did btw I am using Fedora 6 and I have installed cups and using the frontend interface localhost:631
1 : Download the Z55 Driver for Linux from the Lexmark Website
2 : Create the following directory temp_lex
3 : tar -xvf CJLZ55LE-CUPS-1.0-1.tar.gz
4 : tail -n +143 lexmarkz55-CUPS-1.0-1.gz.sh | gzip -cd | tar xvf - -C temp_lex
5 : cd temp_lex
6 : rpm -Uvh z55llpddk-2.0-2.i386.rpm lexmarkz55-CUPS-1.0-1.i386.rpm
7 : Install your Lexmark 5150 and from the driver list you should see a driver for a Z55.

Works very well for me...

Can someone post a link to where to get the drivers?
