Lan Browser not showing in Konqueror

Under KDE 3.3.2 I don't see the Lan Browser in Konqueror. I have validated that SAMBA is installed and also LISA. If I run SMB4K I can see all of the windows network hosts and workgroups just fine. I have also configured LISA as as documented and validated that the daemon has started.

When I open Konqueror and go to the Services tab I only see Audio CD Browser, Devices, Fonts and Print System Browser. I don't see the Lan Browser listed.

Even though I can use SMB4K or type in lan:/ or smb://hostname I would like to have something more graphical for the family to work with.

Any suggestions on how to get this listed?

Thanks

Ron

In Konqueror, I have a "Network" sidebar, and I've managed to get Samba listed by putting a file called "Samba.desktop" in ~/.kde/share/apps/konqsidebartng/virtual_folders/remote
This is what it contains:
Code:
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Icon=samba
Name=Samba
Name[en_US]=Samba
Type=Link
URL=smb:/
If that doesn't work for you, you code probably put Samba.desktop in ~/Desktop, and there would be a shortcut on the desktop for your family. Let us know if it works -- or doesn't.

Caution

I thought I followed lasindi's instuctions to the letter, but my new "Samba.desktop" didn't work.
  1. In Konq. I drilled down to ~/.kde/share/apps/konqsidebartng/virtual_folders/remote
  2. I created a new text file named "Samba.desktop"
  3. I opened it in KWrite
  4. I pasted his code & saved
It didn't work -- I got a "Malformed URL" error msg.

I double checked the file & found an extra space after "smb:/", as well as a blank line @ the end. I eliminated both & it worked. I suspect the problem was the space not the newline, but I didn't test further.

Thanks for the info. Got it to work. I don't know why the Debian install didn't put this here? Now I just have to make this change in the template for new user accounts and I should be all set.
