Willy Werewolf comments & questions?

Mod if incorrect forum, please move. Thank you.

Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu 15.10 wily werewolf none of them would keep the screen resolution set at 1360 x 768 when logging in & out. The previous versions 15.04 Vivid Vervet worked ok. I chose Xubuntu 15.04 because it worked best for my system & it keep the screen resolution set. Now, I am back to using Lubuntu 14.04.3 lts and installed xfce desktops it works better than other 14.04.3 flavors for my system and it keeps the screen resolution set at 1360 x 768 when logging in & out. It also supported till April 2019. I would of like to keep Xubuntu 15.10. I will use what works for me.

I have been trying out different operating systems.
Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela (ubuntu) also works without issue & keeps the screen resolution set.

Now my questions
Is Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa going to be based on willy werewolf? or Is Linux Mint 18 going to be based on willy werewolf?

Thank you for any information in advance.

Rosa is based on Trusty.

Quote:
17.3 Rosa Main Ubuntu 14.04 Ubuntu 14.04 Cinnamon, MATE November/December 2015 Y April 2019
KDE Ubuntu 14.04 Ubuntu 14.04 KDE tbc
Xfce Ubuntu 14.04 Ubuntu 14.04 Xfce tbc
I cannot speak for Mint 18.

I usually use

Code:
xrandr
to see what screen resolutions I am given.
Then use
Code:
xrandr -s <screen resolution goes here>
and if it works, Put it, that line, in startup. No matter what distro I run.
