How can i install Redhat 8 in SunOS machine


Hi all,
Is any one knows how to install Redhat8 in Sun machine(uname SunOS 5.10 Generic_118844-08 i86pc i386 i86pc).

As a rule you can't install an OS on top of another, unless you do something like the Wine env for MS on Linux.
Also, RH8 is very old & no longer supported eg security updates.
Try RH Fedora Core 4 if you want to remain with RedHat.

Hi Chrism01,
Thanks for your reply,let me rephrase the question, i have the sun machine with i86pc platform and i386 processor type.Currently there is SunOS 5.10 installed,but i don want to keep the SunOS because the application which i'm trying to run is not supported by SunOS,but it has been ported in Redhat 7 or more.So i was trying to get the instructions for installation of Redhat in Sun machine,so far i see only the instructions for Dell and other machines.

so to clarify you are looking for general installation insturctions for redhat correct?

as someone stated earlier a newer version would be more benefical.generally i would partiotion the drive to the a / and /swap and install on / . when you install LILO/Grub should take care of the booting needs and you can add which OS's it sees uinless it is just going to be straight linux. use the i386 version of Redhat if this is the one you are defintly sureyou want to use.
