Please bare in mind that this is someone who does not even know what a SYNTAX(?) is!!

Frauline Maria: Let's start at the very beginning
A very good place to start.
When you read, you begin with...

Gretel: A B C!

FM: When you program you begin with Kernighan and Ritchie!

Children: Kernighan and Ritchie!

FM: The first two guys just happen to be Kernighan and Ritchie!

Children: Kernighan and Ritchie!

FM: Kernighan and Ritchie wrote a book about C!!

p.s. - This just popped into my head. Sorry.

The best way is usually to buy a beginner's book about the programming language of desire (especially if you can't program yet), but maybe you'll find a good tutorial on the internet.

Python provides a good introduction (both, the tutorial and the language itself).
