that's quite a big jump there, from inputting a command to getting a dns resolved network? care to actually break it down a little... does the iwconfig command even work?? do you get an ip address from DHCP if needed?
Let me rephrase that. I have a WEP key enabled access point I am trying to connect to with my laptop. How do I do so via a shell prompt? Could you please provide detailed instructions?
Ok. I tried connecting with iwconfig/ifup and with a program called Wireless Assistant (wlassistant). Wireless Assistant works fine when there is no WEP key enabled. Once I enable it, iwconfig/ifup and wlassistant both hang on getting the IP address. I know the key is correct as I am using it on another computer. I do not have MAC address filtering enabled (or else I wouldn't be able to connect w/o the WEP key as I did). Any ideas?
