if you know realplayer works for you,
copy and paste this whole link into your firefox.
Does this play for anyone?
The controls are greyout for me, and i just have a blank screen
i have never been able to play anything realplayer = [
when i try and open realplayer directly, i get "the player does not have the capabilities to play back this content."
And thats from just opening the program!! i havent even tried to play anything.
This is realplayer 10.0.1.
it came already loaded with my install.
Urm could you wrap it in the url tags, or switch off Automatic parse URL's, also something is definitely missing from the end, at least a close bracket.
edit:
Anyway figured it out I get that, something about missing php ( I think theres something wrong with the site. ) I skipped that and got this error
Requested file not found. The link you followed may be outdated or inaccurate. (http://boss.streamos.com/real/0myl82dZ8*yfKhzfgdoq5m0eDeyVZS86DmZVFycHLkp*ca71MYutZ!IQNFczMSliTi2LDmLC5eysu21wwgVctw==?e=.smi)
I think its a problem with the website, coz I can play streams from other sites. You can test your realplayer by goin to bbc news and playing ausio or video clips.
Those work fine for me. What distro are you using. Try installing a newer version of realplayer from the helixplayer website. Select "nightly", then "RealPlayer Stable".
Now, at least, Realplayer opens up no problems.
with the other version, everytime i opened realplayer it said:
"the player does not have the capabilities to play back this content."
okay,
i figured out that my Firefox plugin directory is at:
/opt/MozillaFirefox/lib/plugins/
i renamed the plugin directory, reopened firefox, and suddenly the SWF plugin (the only 1 loaded) was gone. i put to folder back, and the Plugin return inside Firefox.
Thus, im ASSUMING that that is the folder (plus i did a: which firefox)
so, you say to run this command?:
#ln -s /usr/local/RealPlayer/mozilla/* /opt/MozillaFirefox/lib/plugins/
but the way im reading it... what's going to be the name of the Symbolic Link?
Arent we trying to add a symbolic link inside the /opt/MozillaFirefox/lib/plugins/ directory?
If you look in the mozilla subdirectory in /usr/local/RealPlayer, you will find that there are two files named nphelix.so and nphelix.xpt. By creating the symlinks in the way that I showed you using wildcards (*), the symlinks are created at the same time saving you from doing it seperately.
What do you mean when you say that you renamed your firefox plugin directory? There was no need to do that, you should have just done as I instructed in my previous post so that any plugins that were already there would remain intact.
the whole rename the "plugin" directory was just to verify that firefox was indeed using that directory.
When i renamed the directory, The SWF plugin disappeared, as i expected it would.
renaming it, is the same as deleting it (in this case).
Know what i mean?
Sorry for the confusion.
i ran your command:
ln -s /usr/local/RealPlayer/mozilla/* /opt/MozillaFirefox/lib/plugins/
and it did put those 2 files in there: nphelix.so & nphelix.xpt.
Type "about:plugins" in your address bar and press enter. A list of installed plugins will be shown in a webpage. You could try disabling Xvideo if its selected under Tools -> Preferences -> Hardware. Maybe the link to the BBC website will provide you with some useful information coz I don't think I can help any further since I have run out of ideas.
