D-Link DWL-G122 (USB) not working with ndiswrapper [SOLVED]
Hi, I have problems with my DWL-G122 USB WLAN adapter. I can't get it working with ndiswrapper. I used the drivers on the CD which I got with the adapter.
iwconfig output:
Code:
wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:off/any
Mode:Auto Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: 00:00:00:00:00:00
Bit Rate:11 Mb/s Tx-Power:20dBm Sensitivity=-115 dBm
RTS thr:2347 B Fragment thr:2346 B
Encryption key:off
Power Management:off
Link Quality:100/100 Signal level:141/154 Noise level:0/154
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
If this lists your AP, you can continue. Otherwise, you may have one of two problems: Your AP doesn't broadcast SSID (see the FAQ for more information) or the radio of the card is off (again, see the FAQ for details).
The router does broadcast SSID, and I set radio|1 in the configuration file.
I'd try setting your essid with "iwconfig wlan0 essid ***" and then try to ping your router if that works you can continue if not just post again and we'll try to find something else that could be wrong. Which version of ndiswrapper are you using?
You may wish to try
iwlist wlan0 scanning
and see if it finds any APs. Your interface may not support this however. If it is encrypting traffic you need to set the key before you try to associate with the AP.
Regards
Chris
Done everything so far in this thread. What did you do to get it working? The leds on my DWL-G122 don't light up. I get the "driver present, hardware present" but nothing else. When I use "iwlist scan" I get nothing. I've modprobed the ndiswrapper and it's loaded, even says it's being used.
Any suggestions?
I just downloaded the Release Candidate version of ndiswrapper and installed it. My USB dongle didn't work with the Debian package or 1.0 at ndiswrapper.sf.net. Anyway it was buggy, it crashed all the time and ate like 10% CPU sometimes.. Also it made my system logs huge (400MB+). So I use a cable instead now. It removed lots of lag too... It added like 5ms lag, and I could not saturate our connection 100%, so it was too slow You should get a WLAN card/whatever which there is available native Linux drivers for, imo.
