Half open driver for PROMISE FastTrak TX4000/376/378/S150 TX Series
I found the following website. This seems to be some half open driver that you can compile for any kernel you might have. Tested the compile and install on a redhat 9 system and it loaded OK. Don't have drives on my P4C800 Deluxe mainboard's Promise controller so I can't test if I can actually use them but maybe someone else can test the driver: http://www.antgel.co.uk/compsci/linu...ise_raid.shtml
Some info from the readme:

I just received an email from Promise with the FastTrak SX4000 driver for RH 8 & 9. No response for 2 days, then there it was. I haven't installed it yet.
If anyone wants it, I'll email it to you. It's 1.6meg in size.
Later, I'll put it on my web site.
Vince
update:
I installed RH 9 on RAID 0 in about 10min last night. It's running great.

I have just received a file in the post that contains drivers for the Promise SX4000 RAID 5 Controller. It is version 1.01.0.16 specifically for RedHat 7.3, 8.0 and 9.0
Support List
Red Hat 7.3 (kernel 2.4.18-3)
Red Hat 7.3 (kernel 2.4.18-3smp)
Red Hat 8.0 (kernel 2.4.18-14)
Red Hat 8.0 (kernel 2.4.18-14smp)
Red Hat 9.0 (kernel 2.4.20-8)
Red Hat 9.0 (kernel 2.4.20-8smp)
I don't know why they don't post it on their site . If someone would like a copy to make available to the public (I don't have a site) then send me an email and I'll flick it to you.
I downloaded this driver, and tried to add it during OS installation, but when it came up in the device list, it seemed to listed as the driver for the SATA RAID.
I should have posted a couple of weeks ago, but I finally found out the secret to getting the RH 10 install to recognize the SX4000. There is one, and only one kernel that the Promise drivers will work with, and that is 2.4.20-8.
No other kernel will work. Also, note that different RH distribution CDs have different versions of the kernel.
Why Promise has tied their drivers to a single kernel build is a mystery to me.
Cannot find Drivers for Fedora Core 5 - Kernel 2096
I have two servers running a Fastrak SX4000 and a Fastrak SX-150M which seems to use the same drivers for linux and windows. Is there any way to get a working driver for this OS compiled from the redhat drivers?? There does not seem to be alot if information on the net about this.
