RAID card (PROMISE FASTRACK TX4000) shows, but cannot see drives

Hello, I've been trying to get my Promise FASTTRACK TX4000 PCI (ata/133/IDE) raid card working in Debian (2.6.11) for 3 days straight now.

Upon my googling, I was able to find this patch:

(I guess I cant link urls, so here it is, minux the http, its a tiny url to a kernel.org patch)

xrl.us/g2h3

I wgot it to 'patch',and typed 'patch -p1 <patch'

It said it worked.

So I recompiled my kernel with an initrd, it created the .deb, I -installed it, and booted into it (im actually inside it right now).

I really am stumped here, I cannot find any docs on this subject, and I was unable to find help in the freenode irc channels.

Please keep in mind I'm a 6 day old unix newb, I just want to get my mp3s and movies (on my big raid arrays [4 200gig maxtors, 2 mirrored arrays], which, btw, have only one partition) so I can call linux my primary OS.

Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

- Alex Annese (dtheory)

I don't know if you're still trying to do this, but I was able to get my system to boot Linux from the 378.
