After basic redhat server installation no graphical desktop

Hello,
I installed basic redhat server on a vm. I installed from an ISO image.
Now I have all keys on the german keyboard layout but no pipe.
How can I get this working?

Also I have no desktop.
There is only one line in /etc/inittab:

id:3:initdefault:

init 5 // does the following:

portreserve starten [OK] irqbalance starten [OK] Kdump already running [OK]

telinit 5 or init 5 do not work.
How can I install the X Server and Desktop?
yum groupinstall "Desktop" // does not work either

I wonder whether s.b. could help me out.
I had SLES before but not redhat.

Startx is a common command.

I assume you didn't install a window manager or gui.

It would have been easier to add in a window manager at install time but you generally can use either dvd or network to add in a window manager.

Servers normally do not have a GUI
as in NO DESKTOP

You can install RHEL 6.5 WITH a desktop GUI

just select it on the install DVD

rhel really is not free
you HAVE to buy the required support contract to install software

note all lowercase.
