Sound Problems with Fedora Core 3

So I was happily using Fedora 3 until last night I had to log out and when I logged back in, the sound which was working perfectly until then, was distorted and the base was way too high. Does anyone know what to do about this?
Thanks

try running alsamixer or reconfiguring your sound card.

ok I just rebooted about 5 times, and on the last try the problem fixed itself, weird but it seems to be the only fix people have for this problem

hey redazz:
i have a similar problem. I just converted to FC3 and was running fluxbox and loving it. then i logged out and started up GNOME, and sound was gone. i thought it was a gnome problem so i switched back but now all my WM's have the same result: NO SOUND!!!
i'm using a P2 with a SB Audigy Platinum drive. My sound out goes through the "Optical Out" jack on the front of my machine and right into a harman/kardon receiver.
what is deal?!???!?!???

Just had a similiar problem with my SB Audigy, worked fine for a bit, then died all of the sudden. I ended up muting several of the sliders on the volume control and the sound came back. Give that a try, worked for me.

Arrow the Same thing

try 'alsaconf' to look if your card is detected, if the answer is yes, try the 'alsamixer' to rise the pcm volume.
For me alsaconf doesn't detect my card, it says
