Hi,
I used to have no troubles listening to sound, but recently I've run into some issues.
Code:
[root@localhost /]# system-config-soundcard
Vendor: VIA
Model: Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller
Module: snd-via82xx
Seems like it detects something. However, when I press "play test sound" the output in the console is the following:
Code:
amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such file or directory
amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such file or directory
aplay: main:508: audio open error: No such file or directory
A few other different tries:
Code:
[root@localhost /]# alsamixer
alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such file or directory
[root@localhost /]# alsaconf
bash: alsaconf: command not found
[root@localhost /]# alsactl
bash: alsactl: command not found
The command "gnome-volume-control" yields the message box with the error, "Sorry, no mixer elements and/or devices found".
Installed alsa stuff:
Code:
[root@localhost /]# rpm -qa | grep alsa
alsa-lib-1.0.6-8.FC3
alsa-utils-1.0.6-3
alsa-lib-devel-1.0.6-3
alsa-driver-1.0.3-54822cl
Any idea what's wrong? I'm going crazy because it used to work. My sound is stuck at the lowest level - when I try to move the bar up, it jumps back down as soon as I let go of the mouse.
Thanks in advance.
