X-server on RedHat 9.0 not starting the following error is displayed !!!
Recently while starting RH 9.0 on my P-III 933 MHz machine with 128 MB RAM, Intel 815 chipset, and LG Studioworks 440Si monitor, the following error was displayed on the screen while starting the X Windows:
“Cannot Start the X-server. It is likely that it is not set up correctly. Would you like to view the output? “
On pressing OK the following message occurred:
(= = ) Using config file: “/etc/X11/XF86config”

Fatal Server Error :
No screens found.
Then after this the following message screen is shown :
“ Would you like me to try and restart the X-server ? Your will need the root password : “
On pressing OK the computer tries to restart the X-Windows and the following is seen on the screen :
* ddcprobe returned bogus values :
ID : GSM36bd
Name : None
HorizSync : None
VertSync : None
Couldn’t start X Server. Trying with fresh configuration .
Trying with card : Intel 815
After this the following screen is shown :
“I will temporarily disable X server.
Restart GDM when it is configured correctly.”
This has happened three times and I have reinstalled the Red Hat 9.0 OS all the three times but the above problem remains. I use only KDE 3.1 as the desktop in RH9.0.
Could you help me figure out the problem and find its solution?
