What kernel do I need to have hyperthreading in RH9?

Hi all, Iam just wondering which kernel I need to have on my rehat 9 box to get hyperthreading working, I have a dual xeon box and I have been told you need kernel 2.6 for hyperthreading capabilities, but someone told me it was enabled in earler versions, just curios to know where redhat 9 stands. The base install is 2.4.20-8.

Thanks

If I recall correctly RedHat 9 supports hyperthreading without any difficulty, but I think you will want to specificlly run the smp kernel, which provides multi-procsessor support (keep in mind that hyprethreading will cause one processer to be seen as two).

For a discription on how to accompish this, I suggest that you take a look at:

Thanks for the reply kvedaa, yes anaconda makes an spm kernel for me on install, gut when I open the system resources tool there is only one processor which seems strange.

Cheers
