Users not able to print.

Hi,

I am new to cups/printers on Linux.

A SAP users is complaining that he is unable to print. The lpstat command to check print queue status says that the host is busy and will try in 30 seconds.

We cancelled the jobs in print queue and also disabled and enabled the print queue. We enven restartedf the cups service on the server, but the user is still facing the same problem.

Please suggest or point us in the right direction.

[root@node035 etc]# more /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.9 (Tikanga)

[root@node035 etc]# service cups status
cupsd (pid 682) is running...

[root@node035 etc]# lpstat -p prt299
printer prt299 now printing prt299-1349755. enabled since Wed 13 Apr 2016 04:11:52 PM MDT
recoverable: Network host 'prt299' is busy; will retry in 30 seconds...

Thanks.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.9
you do know you are 2 versions out of date
the current in the old legacy hardware support version 5 is RHEL 5.11
with RHEL 7.2 the current

if the printer WAS working then it is a queue issue

if this is a NEW printer ? the old rhel5.9 might not have support for it ?

http://localhost:631/

is the web interface
from the "jobs" tab you can clear the queue
