USB GPRS Modem on redhat linux

Hi,

I need to use my cell phone as a GPRS modem.
I connected my cell phone to my pc which is runing redhat linux using USB cable. Redhat detected my phone.

But I need to know the device file used for the phone by redhat..

For example wether it is dev/ttyUSB0,/dev/ttyACM0 etc.

How can I find out the exact device file used for my phone.

Thanking You,
Chamal.

Look at your /var/log/messages after you connect your cable. It should be there.

For example, when I connect mine, it outputs:
Code:
[29149.216000] usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 5
[29149.428000] usb 1-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
[29149.432000] pl2303 1-1:1.0: pl2303 converter detected
[29149.432000] usb 1-1: pl2303 converter now attached to ttyUSB0
In my case, it's /dev/ttyUSB0

What distro are you using? Please put this in your profile, it makes it easier for people who know the answer to give a more accurate response.

Also, try the command "dmesg" when you insert the modem. "lsusb" should also show any USB devices connected.
