Up2date: Changing rhnuuid

Hi all,

I've recently created a new RedHat ES 3.0 server for a high availability cluster by imaging an existing server.

Problem is, while I've manage to register the system with the RHN, up2date still displays the same UUID on the new server as it did on the one I took the image from. As a result, I'm unable to subscribe to the channel I need to download updates for the server.

Does anyone know if its possible to generate a new UUID for a system?
I thought that removing and reinstalling the up2date package might do the trick, but I'm a little hesitate to try it incase I can't get the damn thing back...

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Neowulf.

I've had this problem for a couple of RH machines that I've imaged. I got around it by removing the /etc/sysconfig/rhn/systemid file and re-running up2date. This enabled me to re-register my imaged machine as a different one on the RHN. Though to be safe, you could just move this systemid file to your home area and then move it back if you get any problems.

Cheers
