system-config-samba problem after joining Windows 2003 domain


I've successfully joined my Red Hat ES 4 test lab machine at home to my Windows 2003 Active Directory domain, following these instructions:

Everything seems to be fine, except that now I've noticed that the command system-config-samba (to get to the graphical samba configuration utility) doesn't work anymore. This is the "error" that I get. Does anyone know why this would be the case?:

redhat-config-samba

have you tried deleting or commanting out the line
# "server singning=auto"
then type redhat-config-samba ;
I has solved the problem that vay but in detailed ı dont know much..

Hi comtmr,

thanks for your reply.

Your suggestion works - it makes system-config-samba appear again.

I haven't tested it in detail since commenting out that line, but will do that and then post my findings here. Don't know how this will affect trying to use domain users and groups for assigning permissions and so on.

Well, I'm happy to say that chmod, chown, etc. still works. I.e. I can make a Windows 2003 domain user the owner of a file on Red Hat.

And wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g still get the user list and group list from Active Directory.
