starting service while booting

On my Redhat 4.x/ 5.x servers I have a daemon that doesn't have a /etc/init.d/ entry so I need to start it by hand every time the system boots up. Is there any way I could put the binary of this daemon somewhere so it gets started while the system reboots? I don't want to make a chkconfig entry for this.

On OpenSUSE I simply add it to the /etc/init.d/boot.local file.

Thanks.

On Red Hat I think that the file you want to use is /etc/rc.local or perhaps /etc/rc.d/rc.local
