routing in RHAS3


i have a machine with 2 NICs. One is 100base NIC - eth1 and another one is 1000base NIC - eth0.
by default redhat gives me a routing rules as such

Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
172.16.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 eth1
169.254.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 eth1
127.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 U 0 0 0 lo
0.0.0.0 172.16.0.254 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth1

my question is, where is the script loading all these scripts??

and also, how am i going to alter the rules permenantly even after i boot the machine, the defaulted rules will never take over my routing rules???
