I was wondering if anyone could assist me in setting up an email server using redhat linux 9. I have NO clue what i'm doing and would like as much help as someone is willing to possibly offer! You don't know how much i appreciate it!
Originally posted by david_ross I would reccomend using Qmail and courier IMAP. Take a look at a guide such as Qmailrocks http://www.qmailrocks.org
MTA flame war I'd use Postfix, easier to configure and setup, also in my own opinion, more stable. We use qmail at work and migrating to postfix for many reasons. I think the only people I know that swear by qmail is David_Ross and mcleodnine.. but don't listen to them.. they're crazy!
Originally posted by david_ross What about LQ? IIRC jeremy uses sendmail and qmail on this very site.
And I also believe he uses postfix he said as well..
Our qmail servers suck though. They can't handle the amount of mail we have coming thru or going out. Rather go with postfix based off sendmail, proven to be stable. Only problem with sendmail, more vulnerabilities, but that's why postfix comes into play.
