Regarding the Squid in RedHatLinux

After starting squid .if i try to access any site the browser does not open it.

My network address range is 192.168.10.0/255.255.255.0.

I want to control the traffic of some computers through the proxy server.
What I have to do to control this

I have not setup any DNS server

and my /etc/hosts file contains
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

/etc/resolv.conf nameserver (IPaddress of the ISP)
nameserver(IP address of the ISP)
serach example.com

The ip address of the Linux machine is 192.168.10.1/24 and
the default gateway is 192.168.10.5/24

When i give the proxy server address in any other machine, the sites does not open.

I have created an acl

acl my_networks 192.168.10.0/255.255.255.0

http_access allow my_networks

What else I have to do?

http_reply_access my_networks

When I try to ping to another computer in my network , it shows
destination_host_unreachable

>route -n

shows

192.168.10.0 Gateway 0.0.0.0

0.0.0.0 Gateway 192.168.10.5

169.254.0.0

127.0.0.1

there is no dhcp server, all the ip addresses are static and are of private class.

if I give ping 192.168.10.4 , it shows 192.168.10.1 Destination_host_unreachable.

What is the problem.

Thanks & Regards

Ankush Grover
