You would be better of downloading Fedora Core instead of Redhat Linux because Redhat discontinued the Redhat Linux product and now releases Fedora Core as an unsupported community project as well as Redhat Enterprise Linux. If you use the old Redhat versions you will no longer get any upgrades/updates or support from Redhat coz they are "end of life" projects.
Fedora Core 1 originally started as Red Hat Linux 9.0.93, which was the versioning scheme for a Red Hat Linux 10 Beta 1 release. The change of name (from Red Hat Linux to Fedora Core) came with the creation of the Fedora Project.
The Fedora Core Installer recognizes Red Hat Linux installations, of course, and offers to upgrade them. But I would not recommend that, as the differences in features between RHL 9 and e.g. Fedora Core 3 are big, and although the installer usually applies post-installation configuration, there might be some issues left, which you would need to repair yourself. E.g. fixing /etc/modprobe.conf
