redhat linux installation problems - shows error hard disk cannot be found and reboot

Hai friends,

I am new in linux world.

I am using windows xp in my system and it works well.

But while I try to install REDHAT ENTERPRISE LINUX WS version 4 32-Bit x86 I got an error - "No hard drives have been found. You probably need to manually choose device drivers for the installation to succeed. Would you like to select drivers now?". I couldn't go forward by clicking yes/no. Then system reboots....

I installed this linux in my same system before one year. But now I couldn't.

My system configuration is

processor - intel Pentium(R) D CPU 2.66GHz
mother board - intel D101

Are you installing from the exact same disk? If not you may have been installing a newer version(say 4.7) before that has support for newer hardware than an earlier version (say 4.0). If you are installing from the same disk, since RHEL requires a subscription license this would be a good question to ask them(that is what the subscription is for).

Also curious why you are using RHEL4.X, RHEL5.4 is current. If the subscription license is an issue then Centos may be a better choice. Centos is RHEL with the logos removed. It is free to download/update(unlike RHEL) and is binary compatible with RHEL.
