Red Hat Patch Question

I was just handed a desktop which has no network connection. And it is not possible to connect it to any other server to patch this server. It is Red Hat Enterprise Desktop V5.5. It's bare metal install that has not had any patches installed. I need to bring this desktop up to date with patches. When navigating the Red Hat support site I only see individual patches. Is there the equivalent of a Solaris Recommended Patch Cluster for Red Hat?

Why can't you just 'yum update'?

Strictly speaking, there is no equivalent of Solaris patches as far as RPM packages are concerned. You can only update packages to a full newer version with Red Hat (and I believe every package based Linux distribution).

This is a good howto on creating a local repo based on the ISO(s) for whichever version you want to update to https://code.google.com/p/iredmail/w...Yum_Repository.
Of course you'll need an RH acct to get the iso, or replace with Centos equiv.
