I was messing around with my Terminal ( logged on as root ) default profile... and now when I try to run the Terminal... it just closes soon as I execute it... is there anyway to reset the Terminals configuration?

edit: am using gnome

Can you log in as a normal user, then in the shell do: 'su' and gain access with the root password?

Alternately, try booting in single user mode, you should be able to make repairs.

If that doesn't work, you can boot via the CD and choose repair at the boot prompt.
