Question problems mounting cd drives

Hi I'm running JAMD Linux 0.0.6b, a disto based on Red Hat 9 and I am having problems mouting my CD drives. When I attempt to mount i get "invalid configuration file" messages. My cd drives are secondary master and slave. I believe I might have problems with symbolic links. Can anyone help? Is there any way of changing the symbolic links somewhere in root for the entire system?
Thanks a lot

Well, your cdrom device file, /dev/cdrom will be a sym-link to something like /dev/hdx (where x is most likely c and d) You can look at dmesg to find out what specifically it is. For example:
Code:
$ ls -l /dev/cdrom
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root            8 Aug 19 16:03 /dev/cdrom -> /dev/hdc
Showing us your /etc/fstab would be of great help in troubleshooting the mounting problems......

Hi Superbond, thanks for your reply. To be honest I was away for a while and hadn't touched the problem. So, I checked out the path for both my CD drives and they are each a symbolic link to /dev/hdc and /dev/scd0 each. Furthermore, both drives mount ISO images without a problem, but they have the "invalid configuration" message if you try to mount audio CDs.

Here's my fstab
LABEL=/ / ext3 defaults 1 1
LABEL=/boot /boot ext3 defaults 1 2
none /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
/dev/hdb3 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto,owner,kudzu 0 0
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom udf,iso9660 noauto,owner,kudzu,ro 0 0
/dev/cdrom1 /mnt/cdrom1 udf,iso9660 noauto,owner,kudzu,ro 0 0

Thanks a lot
