The solution to this problem is documented here -->http://openprinting.org/show_printer...-LaserJet_1010

Read carefully the edited notes.

Question thanx for quick reply, but not sufficiant

hello friend
i read the content of your link, after that i download a "pxlmono" ppd file
but one confusion, this pxlmono install on my print server or on per client
if it use for client so how to add a ppd file on window machine.
one more question, if i install a printer than i choose only ppd file, not use by default linux inbuilt driver for hplaserjet 1010
first time when i installed my printer on server i was choose by default inbuilt driver from myself linux machine.

I would have to be installed on the server, and any linux clients, if you choose this driver over the HPLIP driver. Windoze clients would install the widoze driver supplied by HP, or one included with windbloze.

Not sure what you are asking here. Can you clarify.

Could please state what is not working.

Please list what you have done to resolve the problem, and include any error messages you have. I can only help if i understand where you are with the problem.

Same thing still.

Problem you are having is that printer is receiving PCL language for printing, but HP-1010 and HP-1012 DO NOT UNDERSTAND PCL language completely. So you must set it to avoid PCL language and use alternative page description.

You can also go to this site and try driver found there, first on only one RHEL printer server. It does not say specifically for HP1010, but it should be inside the package.

PCL stands for Printer Control Language. I believe HP developed it.

Windows client will only send page description to Linux server, so problem will be the same.

All I can do to help is to again direct you to http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/ as in my last post, or to suggest that you hook up printer to Windows machine or to acquire different printer like HP-1020 or his replacement.

I was fighting a lot with this bull%$^%$^ printer hp laserjet 1010.
Problem was error message printed on each page (after 17-18 pages send to queue)

"Unsupported Personality: PCL"
or
"Unsupported Personality: PCLX"

I tried pxl1010 but without success.

Also I have tried to remove cups and use lpd but I had some problems with spool directory access
and proper /etc/printcap file content (which I found here: slash slash inferno.slug.org/wiki?Ghostscript_Print_Filter)

finally I have used following package - gutenprint-5.0.1-1lsb3.1.i486.rpm

and this solved problem (at least for now)

[smb.conf - only printing section]

# --------------------------- Printing Options -----------------------------
#
# Load Printers let you load automatically the list of printers rather
# than setting them up individually
#
# Cups Options let you pass the cups libs custom options, setting it to raw
# for example will let you use drivers on your Windows clients
#
# Printcap Name let you specify an alternative printcap file
#
# You can choose a non default printing system using the Printing option

; load printers = yes
cups options = raw

#printcap name = cups
#obtain list of printers automatically on SystemV
#printcap name = lpstat
#printing = cups

#this section is only to share the printer

printcap name = cups
disable spoolss = Yes
; show add printer wizard = yes
; printing = cups
username map = /etc/samba/smbusers
; encrypt passwords = yes
; guest ok = no
; guest account = nobody

[printers]
comment = Printer on Linux
path = /var/spool/samba
guest ok = Yes
printable = Yes
use client driver = Yes
browseable = No

[end of smb.conf - only printing section]

[/etc/printcap]
# This file was automatically generated by cupsd(8) from the
# /etc/cups/printers.conf file. All changes to this file
# will be lost.
hp_LaserJet_1010|hp_LaserJet_1010:rm=router:rp=hp_LaserJet_1010:
[end of /etc/printcap]

[/etc/cups/printers.conf]
# Printer configuration file for CUPS v1.3.7
