new kernel compiled successfully, but the kernel-source package is the same old?

I have succeded in compiling and installing a new kernel for my linux sweety. I am able to boot the new kernel. but once i am in with the new kernel and i issue:

rpm -q kernel
it shows the old kernel

and also
rpm -q kernel-source
it shows the old kernel-souce

is there any way to remove my old kernel and then i guess the new packages would work.

Kindest

Maybe the old kernel-source was installed by rpm but if you downloaded a new kernel source and installed it, it should be this one running. If you want to really know wich kernel version is running, type:

$uname -r

thankx houdelou!

it shows my new kernel version but the thing is that i have done the new kernel compilation and then the installtion just ot get the kernel-source installed. I though that by installing the kernel the kernel source would also be installed but i think i was wrong
